Consul General Liu Fei hosted reception for China Council

On August 25th, Consul General of China to Vancouver, H.E. Liu Fei (with the rank of ambassador), invited UBC China Council members for a working dinner at her residence.

In her welcome remark, Consul General Liu Fei appreciated China Council’s work in facilitating a closer connection between Canada and China, and thanked UBC for giving top level education to students from China. She wished to expand her government’s collaboration with Canada through working with UBC and with China Council. Madame Consul General also said her office will continue to support UBC’s activity in China.

China Council Co-Chair, UBC Vice President Research and International pro tem, Dr. Helen Burt gave a speech on behalf of UBC and China Council. She thanked Madame Consul General for her hospitality, gave an update in UBC’s engagement with China and emphasized that China has been and will be a continuous country of focus in UBC’s international strategy.

Over the dinner, China Council members had broad exchanges with consuls responsible for education, technology and commerce.
